East TN Zone Update Fall 2012

East TN Zone Retreat – September 21-22 – Sunnybrook Farm
Many, many thanks to Sherrie Prien, Victoria Minor and all the ladies who wrote and presented Bible studies at the retreat.  I have heard nothing but positive things!

East TN Zone Rally – October 13 – Shepherd of the Hills, Crossville – RSVP by Oct 6
Please get your head counts in to Janet Simko so the ladies in Crossville can plan accordingly.  Janet’s contact information is JSimko@cmchealthcare.orgor jgs1418@frontiernet.net.  Phone is 931-456-4944; cell is 931-267-5580.  Some very important points:
·        According to our zone by-laws, each SOCIETY is allowed two delegates.  Please be sure your delegates know who they are!  They will need to indicate their delegate status when signing in and will receive a name badge designating them as a delegate.
·        Crossville is in the CENTRAL time zone.  We will gather/register at 9:00 central time (10:00 eastern) and begin our meeting at 9:30 central time (10:30 eastern).
·        The church is undergoing renovation (praise God for growth!) but that means we will be confined to just the fellowship hall for both our meeting and meals. There are some rules about where food/drink are allowed or not so we will need to be mindful to obey the rules.  The Crossville ladies are being very creative about how to handle this and will accept free-will offerings for lunch.
·        Our candidates for President and Vice-President are below.  Please be sure to thank these ladies for their willingness to serve the LWML in this capacity and lift them up in prayer as they take on these important roles!
o   President – Janet Simko, Shepherd of the Hills, Crossville
o   Vice-President – Sandra Arnold, Grace, Knoxville
·        Our ingathering recipient is Plateau Pregnancy Center and the items most needed are (first 3 are most critical):
o   Gerber Good Start – Gentle and Protect Plus Formula
o   Diapers all sizes but especially 3, 4, and 5.
o   Wipes – huge need for these
o   Baby Tylenol
o   Teething drops
o   Gas drops
o   Thermometers
o   Baby Wash & Shampoo
o   Pacifiers
o   Women’s feminine products (tampons and pads)
o   If you have any opened shampoos, hand creams, body lotions that maybe you brought or got as a gift and you don’t like the scent, the agency will gladly take those off your hands.  Remember the women they serve have basically nothing, some are even homeless.

LWML Convention – June 27-30, 2013 – Pittsburgh, PA
I have some details about potential bus travel for our Mid-South district.  We will review this at the rally.  The scenario involved a bus originating in either Fort Smith or Little Rock and then overnighting in Knoxville.  That is PERFECT for our zone.  Meanwhile, stay up to date on the convention at the LWML web site at http://www.lwml.org/conventions/2013-pittsburgh/index.php.

YWR Forms for Pittsburgh Convention -- Submit by November 15
Please encourage young women in your congregations to apply as Young Women Representatives for the 2013 LWML convention in Pittsburgh, PA.  The YWRs should be between 22 and 35 years of age and do not have to be LWML members.  Our district covers the cost of TWO official YWRs to national conventions.  Forms need to be to our district YWR chairman, Jane Hubsch, by November 15th.  Jane’s address is PO Box 566, Gillett AR 72055.  Form is at http://www.lwml.org/ministries/young_women/index.php.

Mark your Calendars (and your church calendars!)
·         East TN Zone Board Meeting, January 2013 (date and place TBD)
·         East TN Christian Life Workshop, Spring 2013 (date and place TBD)
·         LWML Convention, June 27-30, 2013, Pittsburgh, PA
In His Service,
Candy (aka Lily Rae)
